Privacy & map services

Know what stays on your device and what is sent to a map service.

Location permission

JokeNavigator requests location access only when you choose Use my location or Start/Resume navigation. During active navigation it reads GPS updates to show your position and determine progress. Pause and End trip stop the location watcher. Switching away from the page pauses navigation. The app does not store a location history.

Requests to external services

These providers receive ordinary request information, including your IP address and browser information, and may keep server logs. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. The website host also processes ordinary requests to serve the app.

Local storage

Browser local storage keeps your chosen co-pilot, humour frequency, voice, speaking speed, distance units, mute and screen-awake preferences. Destinations are saved only when you press Save destination. Saved places include their names, descriptions and coordinates. Up to 20 places are kept on this device. Remove an individual place with its remove button, or choose Delete all saved places. Clearing browser site data removes all preferences and saved places.

If local storage is blocked, the current route and controls still work, but preferences and places cannot be retained. There are no accounts, analytics scripts, advertising trackers or automatic feedback submissions in this version.

Voice

Speech is handled through your browser’s text-to-speech service. Some voices run locally, while others may send text to a device or browser provider. Spoken text can include road names and directions. Mute voice to use text only.
